Development - Relationships - Direction - Accountability - Results

According to the latest Sherpa survey on Executive Coaching, the most widely used definition of executive coaching is “regular meetings between a business leader and an experienced facilitator, designed to produce positive changes in business behaviour in a limited time frame.”

Why?
While in the recent past, coaching efforts have been seen as only an attempt to save someone’s job – an executive who wasn’t living up to expectations might be encouraged to get some executive coaching for example – executive coaching is now considered to also be a pro-active instrument in the leadership development tool box rather than an indicator of difficulty.

How?
Executive coaching is now seen as a professional development tool that garners improved abilities within a limited time frame.   The vast majority of HR professionals agree that in-person delivery is the most effective coaching environment and the greatest success with coaching begins with a limited scope. Lasting no more than six months, these are regular structured meetings within a fixed-length engagement allows both the participant and the engager to plan for the required time to complete the process. Objectives are identified and schedules are tailored for individual needs. Hourly rates apply are based, in part, on the length of the contract.
